Argus by the Numbers
Argus by the Numbers
April 21, 2017
Argus’ story begins in 2002 when Thompson Smith founded the company and signed on Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre and The Pepsi Center in Denver as his first clients. The name Argus comes from Argus Panoptes, a giant from Greek Mythology who was known as “the all-seeing one” with one hundred eyes who kept watch over the Olympian Pantheon. Since 2002, Argus has “seen” quite a bit and has grown to provide event staffing services to the majority of Denver’s premier event venues as well as major event venues in Atlanta, Georgia. We thought it would be fun to measure our Argus history in numbers and here is what we found:
- Argus has more than 1,600 active highly trained staff across the country and hired 980 new staff members in 2016 alone!
- In 2016, Argus staffers welcomed 5.5 million fans to concerts, sporting events, and other special events throughout the year.
- At Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Argus has staffed more than 1,000 events since 2002.
- Argus staffers have had the opportunity to witness some amazing moments in sports including:
- 2 NBA Championship Series
- 4 NBA Western Conference Finals series and at least 70 NBA playoff games
- 6 NCAA MBB First and Second Rounds
- 1 Frozen Four NCAA Hockey Final
- 1 Stanley Cup Final and multiple NHL Conference Finals
- 40 NHL Western Conference playoff games
- 1 MSL Cup Final and 10+ MLS playoff games
- 3 Broncos AFC Conference Championship Games and at least 14 AFC Playoff games
- 2 World Series games
- 2 NL Pennant games
- 8 MLB playoff games
- 3 Outdoors Lacrosse Championship games
- 10 NLL playoff games
- Argus Staffers have also had the opportunity to rub shoulders with some pretty important folks including:
- Attendees at the Democratic National Convention in 2008
- 15 Presidents / Vice Presidents on official visits
- 5 high level U.S. Military leaders on official visits
- One Pope on a visit in 1993
- The Denver Summit of the Eight – 1997
And to remember all of these awesome moments, we have more than 250 pieces of memorabilia hanging on the walls of our office!
